Caring for Your Smile for Life
The long-term success of your dental treatment is dependent upon techniques and materials that are strong and lasting. Other factors include your overall general health, regular professional examinations and preventive maintenance as well as your follow through on recommended treatment.
The key to your dental success is to have regular professional exams, cleaning and X-rays at prescribed intervals at our office (2 to 6 months as appropriate for your condition). We ask that you provide a minimum of 48 hours advance notice when changing appointments.
A Healthy Foundation
To appreciate the importance of good oral health, you have to understand the links between your oral health and your overall health. Oral diseases like cavities and gum disease are due to chronic infections, which can have far-reaching consequence for your body.
Oral bacteria can spread through your body, infecting your heart, clogging your arteries, and damaging your kidneys. Some oral bacteria impair you body’s ability to recognize and fight cancer. And your body’s immune response to these chronic infection can be damaging, too. Chronic inflammation for your body, and the constant state of alert in the immune system can increase your risk of autoimmune disorders.
Controlling infection in the mouth can improve your overall health as well as preserve your smile for a lifetime.
We strive to provide the finest, safest options for our patients. That means no more silver, mercury or metal fillings! Instead, Dr. White relies on natural-looking, advanced restorative resins that bond to your teeth and enable the dentist to save as much of the original tooth as possible.
Why steer clear of metal, silver or mercury fillings? Metal generally requires the dentist to remove a healthy portion of the affected tooth in order to create an anchor for the filling. Silver and mercury are chemicals that expand, which means they contribute to cracked teeth — not to mention that mercury toxicity is becoming a growing health concern.
We can provide patients with additional information and insight about our unique care and approach through educational videos. The Casey Patient Education System is a series of engaging, easy-to-follow 2-minute vignettes about different restorative, aesthetic and neuromuscular dentistry procedures. We are proud to provide these DVDs as a way of empowering patients to be informed about their care and our philosophies.
